GETTING THERE

By Air:

The most convenient airport to UMass is Bradley Airport, Hartford, Connecticut. From Bradley, it is about a 50 minute drive to campus. Renting a car is probably the best option for getting to campus. The hotels are not within easy walking distance of campus, so having a car would be very convenient. In addition, the shuttle is quite expensive, and renting a car is likely to be quite comparable in expense to taking the shuttle. If you do want to take the shuttle, you can make arrangements in advance with Valley Transporter (413-253-1350 or http://www.valleytransporter.com) for transportation to and from the airport. If you are coming from overseas, you may want to fly in to Logan Airport, Boston. Once at Logan, renting a car would definitely be a good idea. Although Valley Transporter can pick you up there, the shuttle from Logan is far more expensive than renting a car. It is roughly a two hour trip from Logan to UMass, so do be sure to check on whether flying in to Boston really is more convenient than going to Hartford.

By Rail:

Amtrak (800-872-7245) can take you to Springfield, Massachusetts, approximately 30 minutes from UMass. Valley Transporter (see above) can take you to and from the railroad station.

By Car:

Campus maps and driving directions can be found at http://www.umass.edu/umhome/visit_campus/maps.html
